is good for mulloway on the right tide n moon, wittecaraw beach does well too.

time to go is when the swell is down check your weather apps n be free to go when it looks good ,

trying to book in advance can lead to heart break with wind and swell

Ben no need for 40lb mainline for tailor

Mon, 2016-02-29 10:05

Leader yes, but main line no.

I fish 10KG on surf rods up there, leader I use is 60lb but could get away with 40lb in the surf. Around rocks and reef I would up it though.

Hell with most surf rods you would struggle to put 8KG of hurt on a fish with a bend in the rod. 20lb is fine.

Cheers,

at this time of year the only time I'd suggest running 40+ lb mainline was if your rock hopping the cliffs for tailor you could also encounter a pelagic or trevaly

Im running a assassin Amia 15-30lb asol 2 3000 21lb gossen braid for tailor,  a diawa seajigger 7-15kg and a 4500 saltist 50lb avani casting braid for the stones
