Kalbarri Last Week
Just got back from a few days at the Barri last week, and what a bloody great spot! Started out fishing Oyster Reef for the first few days catching and releasing the sort of Tailor Kalbarri's famous for. All but 2 went back over those 3 days as they didn't recover too well, but were much enjoyed for lunch and dinner. Fish went off the bite when the stormy weather and the northerly winds picked up, but managed to get boat trip in up around Sand Patch on our last day where we all caught one fish each. One of which, the pinkie was saved for dinner. Overall what an awesome spot.
Fishing Oysters we were using Stickbaits and Poppers, with the odd bibbed lure making an appearance.
Always awesome watching Tailor fight over your lure.
Not one under 62cms, with most around the 70-75cm mark, and the biggest at 80cms.
We tagged the Dhuie too. 51cm. Can't wait to see how he goes!
Cheers!
Wazza.

Effort = Results
Yeah mate, wasn't easy, but was definetly all about watching the waves and timing the casts. Our first arvie session I landed 5 and dropped 3. My mate fishing next to me using the same lures couldn't buy one. But there were some good schools of them coming through.
But to answer your question, prob a good 30 casts per fish maybe. Enough to make to body ache and the trigger finger sore anyway.

bibbed lures
gday , it isnt always easy using a bibbed lure for tailor
not usually that heavy , catchs on reefs etc , but when you can they work really well.
my favorite, a river to sea triho in mulie pattern, about 160 long.
I know there spose to catch fish , not fishermen , but they really are a work of art in there colouring, finish etc
trolled from a boat at 2-4 knots , there deadly.
looks like a great mid west trip mate! barri and gero , greenough as well still fish well , and to get such action
with spitting distance of the towns themselves , never fails to make me respect and appreciate what we have in
the wild west.
cheers.

River Mouth is easy once you
River Mouth is easy once you know how to tackle it. Looks like small swell this weekend for yas up there, so ya shouldn't have any dramas. Dont forget to throw a few poppers at Black Rock on the way out. Rarely miss good tailor from there! Best of luck!
