Kalbarri. Little swell update / fishing update

after the storm/rain Kalbarri is starting to turn it on. 1 more sleep and I'll be into it.

Wish i I was out tonight!!!!

Im not that keen on shallow water fishing, but today went pretty well! Went north with nowhere in mind! Left in the dark around 6 kids were spewing by 7. Wind dropped as expected. Got a few small dhueys in close then went looking around the 40m line. Got a couple around the 700 so that was it for dhueys then a couple of red throat and it was time for home. Released a 850 dhue, jigs killed it. Mouth seemed pretty easy, it has markers. We managed in the dark! Though sometimes it's easier

to go when you can't see what's coming!

Kalbarri turned it on again today! Woke up had breakfast with wife, launched boat by 10 home by 1. 2 nice baldys, 3 undersize reds!

Even had a look at fads! But no luck

sorry to tell u this but i have just come back from Kalbarri fishing landbased. u could say that i could have fished more but it would have been very hard to

fished all the likely areas in the right times for nothing, went down to isolated parts of the cliffs for nothing and everyone that i talked to and even the tackle shop said there wasnt much being caught. The only good fish that were caught for me were 2x 35cm tailor. Which isnt really what Kalbarri is renowned for

sorry for the bad news but hopefully u can have better luck than me

hopefully a fish full report awaits us :)

We were there 2 weeks ago and caught two mulloways, nothing big around 8 and 13kg. Both were caught around 9-10pm on mulleys. There were a lot of small breams around and sand whitings.

There was a couple who caught 2 x 15+ mulloways a couple nights before we arrived.

Good luck with your fishing.

In a blink of an eye

Tue, 2016-07-19 17:56

I've seen the scene change in Kalbarri in the blink of an eye from absolutely dead to full on. Why it goes like this I don't know we have all heard the stories "you should of been here yesterday".
Then two days later there are very good size fish to be had every where, pack in the big gear just in case.

I've done it a few times in a 4.2m, just have to know the weather and be sensible.
