Anything orange and small, wrigglers are a good start, but i have bought these mojiko slik rigs to test them out and see if they are any good,
try and get something with an action, not a stickbait that wou use offshore

try the mcartys in chartrusse
I have had some success with these soft placcis as well as the snapbacks in pink and minnow colors. The Mcartys were 7" bullhead minnows and paddletails and the snapbacks were 3" from memory. Jig heads were ranging from 1.5/1 ounce for drifting (Mcartys) and the Snapbacks were 3/8-1/2 ounce. Species I caught on softies were rankin cod, pinkies, skippy, duies, and also a couple of mid water unstoppables that hit up the placcie on the drop after a I saw a big silver flash behind the lure and engauged the gears.
Best color I have found has been anything in pink, chartruesse (almost a fluroscent yellow with white belly), and the skippy loved the snap back in the minnow colour (similar in shape and colouration to the local baitfish, almost a whitebait imitation).
Best of luck and it is good to see the water has cleared up at the mouth after the floods when I was up there for the Kalbarri fishing classic.
Cheers OX

one thing we found on our recent trip to Exmouth is the further north you go the quicker the McCarthys get destroyed (depends ont he depths).
Using snapbacks, i could stick to one plastic for the whole session (sometimes i didnt, bloody mackies!!)

I've also heard the river is
I've also heard the river is still very dirty, so softies in the river might not be very successful, but what I can bet is there will be some seriously large Tailor sitting on colour change (at rivermouth) so your better focusing your efforts there. If your going offshore, head north to the sand patch, hads been producing lately. No shortage of fish atm
