make sure they give you a house
otherwise forget the job.
fishing - many and varied from bottom bashing, game trolling to creek bashing. But just remmeber that Karratha has the highest percentage of boat ownership per person of anywhere in the world, so the competition out on the water is great - especially if the weather is good and its a weekend.

We live in Karratha- have a young family and love it! You do need to secure a house as rental prices are prohibitive. A boat makes it a whole new world. 20 minutes in a boat and you can be sitting on an island, catching fish and not see anyone for most of the day. You do need to get your head around wind and tides- but from Gero you would be onto that. Go for it!

Agree
Lived there most off my life and miss it every day since i left. There may be a few boats in town but when you go out you dont see any one for miles so imo do it, some people who dont know the area may give you a bum steer but just see how Brad and Jay go that will get any one excited.

Flagpole I am with the others
Came up 2 odd years ago. Seachange and all that. Fished from shore for the first year and it can be a bit slow but there is always a spot and you can do well. Usually smaller fish. With the boat the world is your oyster. Whatever you like you can do. If the wind blows up find a lea near a island and fish. The size drops but the fish up here does make the southern fishery look poor.
We never go out and not catch something. Very much into catch and release and only keep what we are going to eat fresh as.
Love it

As far as jobs go mate , try
As far as jobs go mate , try get one with one of the companies on pluto.
I work fly in fly out up here and do more land based then boat fishing. There are plenty of spots to go to landbased but do a bit of researched for some harder to get place because all the contractors hit the easy acess spots hard.
Been out in the boat a few times and the water is amazing, so much life and so many options as to what you can do.
hope that helps

I have been living here
I have been living here going on 11 years, the boat fishing is great , some spot are feeling the pressure as there are a shit load of boats now. But in saying that you still do well if you spent thet time looking around. You can do Barra to billfish in 6 months , diving is great and if you just want to cruise around and chill on an island is right there.I havent done much land base as a got a boat as soon as a got here but I here you can do well.
Hope that helps and if you come up give us a buzz .
