Rear wheel carrier laws?
Submitted by SHizz on Sat, 2009-10-31 10:12
Got pulled over last night - not for speeding, or driving crazy , but because my reel wheel carrier is apparently illegal.Car is a stock standard import Nissan Terrano. Imported about 5-6 years ago with the carrier/spare wheel attached. The cop said it makes it hard to see the tail lights from one angle and that you must have lights on the bumper as well if you have one of these YELLOW STICKER. Just about every other terrano Ive seen has these attached and many other cars.Cop was nice about it but has anyone ever encountered this problem?
The pic attached is not my car , but similar

yes its cops thinking there
yes its cops thinking there legends again the best way is just to put them in saves the heart ache later they think they know best and thats the way it is theres no point fighting it put the lights in & you wont get pulled over again have had simular problems with imports & other cars that came through our workshop & have my own cars the basic rule cops are right you are wrong & if they think its not right you get a yellow sticker every time dosent matter if you take it over the pits & it passes with out changing a thing another one will pull you up & give you another yellow sticker & just keeps costing you money just make the changes & you wont get another one belive me been there too many times

I believe
to comply with ADR, the rear wheel carrier must have a number plate holder and operational rear lights.

Sorry
and meanwhile a woman had her bag snatched and some tosser did burn outs for twenty minutes and terrified a heap of pensioners and Constable Care was giving you grief over a bloody tyre carrier.

Yes after reading this post
old fart and I went to do some shopping, driving down Stock Rd, guess what we saw 4x4 after 4x4 all with rear spare tyre, toyota, nissans, holdens etc, one 4x4 was brand new, old fart reckons he's never heard of what the copper pulled you over for. You have to have your number plate/lights etc clear thats all he remembers. Amazing how they can nick pick on something really simple yet, on our drive to go shopping sitting on the speed limit car after car passed us well over the limit, running amber/red lights as well. And you'll never guess, not one cop car, to our destination and home, good forty minutes on the road, amazing.
