Keep Australia Fishing Convoy - we need YOU!
We are running a Keep Australia Fishing Convoy on Wednesday, Aug 29, at 2pm and we need your support!!!
The convoy will start in Fremantle and head to a meeting point (destination still to be confirmed) at around 4pm, where we will hold a public rally, with keynote speakers, special guests, etc.
There will be opportunities to join the convoy along the way, or you can join us at the rally afterwards.
We want to see heaps of people towing boats in the convoy, and cars without boats as well.
We also want to see banners, placards, signs, etc.
Regional anglers should get involved too, I know of at one least one town that is already planning to run its own rally in conjunction with the main one.
We also want people to come up with innovative ways of promoting the Keep Australia Fishing message to the wider public. Post your effort to the Keep Australia Fishing Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/KeepAustraliaFishing, and we'll pick a winner, who will win a fantastic prize.

If i am down i will be in on it.May even bring the boat
I was wondering why it would be on a Wednesday at 2pm though? You would need to take most of if not all the day off if you live NOR and want to tow the boat.I might just hook up the boat and slow the freeway down for a few hours driving at 70kms an hour for the whole day.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

There are several reasons why a weekday is the preferred option...more details to follow on that.
We realise some people will have issues with work, that's why we are giving plenty of notice...
And people can turn up to the rally after work as well, if they can't make the convoy.
Hard to make it perfect for all, so we've tried to find the best result for most people.

Scotty, do you know if there are any similar events planned in other states on the day (or any other day), such as SA (I'm not on face book - Yeah there is one of us), would be better if the show of support was Aust wide. There are a number of folk in SA raring to go due to both the federal and state marine parks coming in on both fronts.

I have told Rick and Dann about this and they seem OK to try and help out .
They did ask about contact details but as you know I can't get on Wangler so I couldn't ask you.
I may turn up to hand out S&F membership forms, I got the boys to watch this site to keep abrest of the fishing side of things.
I know the guy running for office is a mad keen angler and has put his hand up to try and get himself into parliament to get us fishers and shooters a say in what happens to us, I was asked to be an advisor but turned it down , I have enough on my plate running a rifle & pistol club and my own business to get political.
Has anyone thought about demonstrating at Freo when the guy from sea shepherd comes over for a conference ??

We will be meeting at the Leeuwin Boat Ramp at 2.30pm. Wednesday, August 29.
At this stage it looks like we will be heading in convoy to Langley Park in Perth, where will hold a Keep Australia Fishing rally from around 4pm.
For anyone who can't make it to Fremantle, there will be meeting points at Bluewater Scarborough (south end of Scarborough Beach carpark), Bluewater Morley (exact location to be advised), Bluewater Mindarie and All Boat Business.
We want lots of signs and banners with messages like "Don't Lock Us Out" and "I Fish I Vote".
If you work in the city and can't make the convoy, pop down after work and show your support!

I am having Lunch ,meetings
I am having Lunch ,meetings & drinks with all the WA ministers/members of WA government plus all the federal Lower and upper house members this weekend and will certainly ask the hard Questions.
(Yes I am wearing a suit, Yes I pay for the privelage and No I cannot go fishing or to the footy or even be on Fishwreck website this weekend
Plus will tow my dinghy to the rally on the 29th of this month!
Hope it meets aproval of the vocal ones here on this forum.

If you feel that yoiu realy want to have a say of how your country is being managed then become an (active) member of a political party so you have access to the lawmakers and you can: "work it Baby"!

I totally agree with your approach. As members of our resepective communities we must lobby our state and federal MP's by mail and e-mail. This will give them an idea of the size and strength of our fishing community as a whole. I'm sorry, but I can't make the rally and won't make excuses as to why not but I do know that if the people that do show up to support and represent the cause and themselves must do so in a decent and proper light wich means no chants or slogans that can be misconstrued as any thing but straight down the line and honest, with definitely no aggro in the crowd.

Im in , picking the kids up early from school, its there fishing rights going down the gurgler too!
no boat , but a quad on a trailer , and have to think about some signage.
this is at least somethink concrete to do, no good winging and bitching when its gone.
