KG's from Wed

Tried out wide (5 fathom of Garden Island) first of all for about 2hrs for snapper/dhu (or anything else stupid enough to get caught) but no luck. So decided to come in closer and got a dozen nice KGs between my mate and I.

Got about 6 pushing the 40cm mark, with the biggest going 45cm.

Caught about 50/50 between

Thu, 2016-05-12 18:57

Caught about 50/50 between shit fish and KG's.

Normally use coral prawn pieces (shelled) about the size of a large pea. Though on this day we were catching them on everything from prawn, squid, mulie fillets and strips of yellow tail.

Key I have found is to not berley at all. If they are there, they will usually bite within a minute of each cast.

Berley with bucket of wet sand

Thu, 2016-05-12 20:02

Take a bucket or 2 of wet sand from the shoreline before you go...  right on the waters edge. Anchor just off the weed line. .. grab a coupla handful of sand and throw into your designated area. Cast further away and slowly bump retrieve your bait in. . Kinda like a prawn or small shellfish. . Any kgw will be motivated by  the  movement of they're on the chew. ..Sounds dumb but it  works beautifully for KGW of this size in shallow water.
