Knot for soft plastics

Hi Guy's ,

Going to have a go at using soft plastics for snapper and want to know the best way to tie the jig to the leader .

Also can you use a snap swivel for joining jigs.

a tight knot to the jig eye like a uni knot. Some would use a loop knot however I don't think it is necessary.

Yeah I agree with mc, I always tie a loop knot generaly with any artificial lures, jigs or baits as it lets them do what they're designed to do. Also with the jigs I use a wind on leader, to a ball bearing swivel. Then when i want to change jigs I get my split ring pliers and exchange the split ring from one jig to another onto the swivel. It makes for a strong and secure connection.

Is what I use on all my gear, easy to change jighead weights, or switch to jigs (no need for split ring here too) etc, no pliers reqd, works for me as I change lures etc frequently

Ooooo, where do you get yours from Tim-o? I googled them and you can get some that are part of a ball bearing swivel too... May have to acquire some!

Tim-O, I bought a few packs

Tim-O, I bought a few packs of these to try out and find it quite hard initially to slot the lure on this SOM ring. I was still using pliers.

How do you manage to do it ?

Even with the fat ring on a 3oz jighead. Gota press it in under the 'loop'

For light leaders (<20lb)

For light leaders (<20lb) generally use a uni knot. For heavier leaders, I'll generally go a loop knot. I personally don't rate snaps / snap swivels.
