Lack of fish.. Weekend
How did everyone go over the weekend? I take it from the lack of photo's that the fish shut down. The weather was awsome Friday , Saturday and Sunday.
Myself I bled both days, I went Saturday, trawled Rotto south side to west end , nothing , minimal bait on sounder , birds wern't working. Shot out to 100metres see what was out there, nothing. Dropped a soft plastic in 100metres on some ground out there couldn't get a bite. So my palagic day resulted in zip.
Went Sunday, Weather was to good not to go, went Dhuie hunting this time. Started in 30's ended in late 40's for nothing. Ground was dead , Sounder just was not lighting up. so grabbed me bat and ball and came home.
Sunday the North current was strong even in the 30's our drift couldn't keep up with lines so i'm blaming the current. Saturday the current wasn't that bad i thought but i didn't spend much time bottom bouncing.
I was excited about the weekend as the amount of fish and the variety of species the weeks before have been exceptional.
Maybe LJ had the right idea and went crabbing haha

Absolutely agree, it was a
Absolutely agree, it was a shut down up our way. I tried multiple spots and depths, even the pickers were off so that says a lot. Saying that managed a PB Pinky on the Vexed.
Dhuie pics 2 weeks previous, the Vexed work a treat.

Well done on the pb. Even on an off day that's still a win Sea-Kem. Nice Dhie too but it doesn't count. Haha

Mate I had the same first up on first drop with my mulie rig set up in the holder at the front of the boat. A few strong looking taps, rushed down and set the hooks thinking it was a godd Dhu. Managed to get it up maybe 10m then it took a run for Magagascar and snapped me off. Checked the leader to see it was frayed the whole length so a grey coat for sure f%&*ing things!

Went out to the 40s off ocean reef, managed a 8kg Dhu, decent blackass and good size harlequin by 10, then 3 fishless hours after that. Went completely dead at 10:30

Glad
glad a few fish got caught. For the amount of boats out there I was sure someone had to catch something.

Fished friday
Fished Friday with a mate Alan and Uncle. Tried on top of the bank, but was very quiet and a strong current. Uncle got a Baldie there,. Went back to the 10 mile where the current was less and managed a bag with a second baldie, a snapper and 3 Blackass (and a woobby ) Had a reasonable feed. Slow day with lots of miles
