Land based Denham/Shark Bay advice...

As the title suggests I'm looking for some advice on land based spots for Shark Bay/Denham. Heading up there early August but never been further north than Kalbarri so not too sure what to expect, I've done a lot of fishing along the south coast and south-west. VERY keen to get into a few Pinkies! Got a very capable 4wd so offroad isn't an issue but I'll have the boss and two small kiddies in tow most of the time... Thanks in advance! Cheers!

You should head up toward bottle bay area, last time there i used a little bream combo of the shore and had a great time with flathead and tusk fish.South of Denham is also good just explore a few of the tracks of the main drag take basic beach gear and little flickies a few blobs to keep you out of the reef.We used berkely plastic crabs and did quite well.Oh yeah and try fish the tides.

 Mate you might wanna check

Thu, 2014-07-24 06:19

Mate you might wanna check out the area around Eagle Bluff, I was up at Denham over easter with the misses, only having a falcon ute we parked at one of two "carparks" at the end of the dirt roads and walked down to the water and along to the left or right was bloody good fishing, the pinkies attacked our baits so fast it got frustrating that other fish seemingly couldn't get a look in! With a fourbie and the misses/kids in tow you shouldn't have a problem as the walk along the shoreline wasn't too bad at all, maybe 300/500m either way, flat with a bit of rock hopping but pretty easy going.

From memory was only 20mins south of Denham, is sign-posted from the main road.

if your heading up to peron

Thu, 2014-07-24 14:59

if your heading up to peron bottle by is a beautiful spot plenty of whiting there and probably mulloway at night but its all sand if your more into the reefies snapper and tuskies your better off at cattle well, and south gregories or the western side of the tip of peron, its all sign posted so you cnt go wrong really, we went up there a few weeks back after soending a couple of days in denham we only camped one night at peron, next time i will be heading straight up there to camp.

2 adults and a car was around $40 for entry though if i remember right, make sure you take plenty of bushmans the sand flies are a hungry mob up there i still have bites nearly 3 weeks later
