Landbased fishing near Bayswater

Currently fishing under Garret Road bridge, not much action. Is there any other spots I should try?? I am on foot.

Cheers

Tried the Worms

Thu, 2009-07-30 10:25

I tried worms around that same area last weekend... No luck at all, nothing on river prawns either... Best results I have had has been on medium size pieces of fresh mullet (from the fishmongers).  I find if the piece is too small I get no response.  Mate dabbles with taking the skin of the mullet, seems to improve bite rate, but the crafty buggers get the bait off too easily so the hookup rate is worse.

Im not that experienced with Swan Brim though, this has just my findings to date, in half a dozen trips or so over the last two months. Most my experience is with brim is from Gladstone, QLD.  Obviously there are going to be differences.

Even though I didn't have any luck on worms last weekend, I wouldn't write them off... Worms in QLD are insane, you can have nothing look at your line on prawn or mullet for 30 mins, cast back to the same spot, and worms will get snaffled in under a minute.

Price of worms back here in WA is a little prohibitive to for me to consider for heavy use however, and Im yet to see anywhere you can pump em.

Anyway, theres another 5 cents worth...
