walked from end of french st to garratt road bidge and back with no bites using river prawns a ew chatsonthewyno one was getting bites, but somone said i should be using worms this time of year.
I tried worms around that same area last weekend... No luck at all, nothing on river prawns either... Best results I have had has been on medium size pieces of fresh mullet (from the fishmongers). I find if the piece is too small I get no response. Mate dabbles with taking the skin of the mullet, seems to improve bite rate, but the crafty buggers get the bait off too easily so the hookup rate is worse.
Im not that experienced with Swan Brim though, this has just my findings to date, in half a dozen trips or so over the last two months. Most my experience is with brim is from Gladstone, QLD. Obviously there are going to be differences.
Even though I didn't have any luck on worms last weekend, I wouldn't write them off... Worms in QLD are insane, you can have nothing look at your line on prawn or mullet for 30 mins, cast back to the same spot, and worms will get snaffled in under a minute.
Price of worms back here in WA is a little prohibitive to for me to consider for heavy use however, and Im yet to see anywhere you can pump em.
went to windan bridge yesterday got a 24cm and 21cm (undersize but good fights)between 1030 and 1130 after that was getting lots of good bites just couldnt hook any. using river prawns bites stopped around 130. heaps of pilchard jumping around.
