Last Weekends LB Overnighter.

Decided to go for an all nighter last sunday night down south of the metro with big jords, didnt hit the beach till later than expected 4.30 pm ish, sea looked nice n fishy with a gutter straight in front of us, so quickly set up the small rod to see if there were any livies about for bait and instantly got in to lots of salmon trout, hundreds of them which became a bit annoying thru the night as they became bait stealers. but good to see the numbers for the future.

As it got dark we slowly set up camp and put the bigger rods out, not much happening so put a nice bit of burley in, not long after with a old frozen herring on a running sinker ganged hook rig my reel screamed, loaded it up and called it for a ray, and yes it was 10 mins later and my 1st ever ray landed, hooked them before but never landed one.

It was a smooth ray of around 800-1000mm acroos just a pup, but gee it cramped my arm and but an ache in my back, hats off to the guys that mange to land those monsters, dont think i even want to try for one of those beasts.

Next up we have a visitor to the camp, he was a brave lil bugger n came pretty close trying to see what he could steal.

Burley'd up again and not long later i got a hit, not much of a fight but definatley a bit of weight on the end, not sure what it was  but then we saw it in the wash and jords pulled it in for me my 1st gummy shark, roughly around the 1m mark, very happy fisho i am at this point 2 firsts and none for Jordan ha.

The burley was definately working i had a hook up but it decided to jump off the hooks,we had a quite a few salmon trout pulled in through out the night.

I kept getting good hits but couldnt convert, started to annoy me but i kept baiting up cocktail of squid and mulie, the hits were solid so made me think it was Tailor, and yes it was i hooked him , got him to the wash and it was was new PB of 57cm, previous was 46cm, very very happy man.

Jordan saw his rod bend while fishing his smaller one, but he thought he missed the hook up. so left it there, 5 mins later im in again, felt like the first gummy, i bring it to the surf and yes it a gummy but low n behold our lines are tangled and its his hooks in the gummys mouth, was a bit bigger than my one. Still think its my fish as i reeled it in hey Jords? no pics as thats on his iphone.

We called it a night at 2am but back up at 6am, morning was definately not productive even with the high tide, decided to knock it on the head around 11.30. jords left his new posiden/saltiga combo in till the last minute with a frozen herring on the slide bait .

and at the last minute his reel goes off, calls it for a ray and its a smooth ray again roughly the same size as the 1st one. 10 mins later we land the ray and he's christend his new combo on the first try.

Jords taking his time .

Jords smooth ray.

All in all quite a good nights fish for us.

Cheers

I think I know where you were but that's your business mate.

The pic of the fox is a CLASSIC! LOL. It's happened to me before where my bait kept going missing. Now I have a Kelpie and he is even a bigger theif. If the Fox turned up my dog would try to play with him all night. LOL.

Jordan made a homemade burley

Jordan made a homemade burley bomb, if you look in the pic with the gummy shark you'll see it, just fill it up with old fish scraps, old bait, pollard, fish oil, basically anything u can get your hands on and leave it in the wash.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
