Launching / Retrieving advice

Hi guys,
After a bit if advice.
How far do you put your trailer in when launching and retreiving.
In particular retrieving, as I think I have been going too deep so the boat is going off centre when I winch it up, but I'm not sure how shallow to go for retrieving ?
Cheers for any advice.
Joycey.

i think it depends on the size and weight of your boat, and how hard it is for you to winch on ideally for me if the last 3 or four rollers are submerged it seems to be fine. i have a 6.8 metre plate ally half cab so quite a heavy boat.

Depends on trailer but
Depends on trailer but generally i like to put it in further when launching so it comes off easier. Retrieving you want some of the rollers exposed so it alligns the boat, instead of the boat floating over the rollers and getting pushed off centre. Don't go rediculously shallow but just enough for the boat to straighten

only the last two rollers are submerged for retrieving boat is a 6.8 metre coraline hardtop and for launching just do the quick launch and let graviety do the rest of the work

Last one or two sets
Last one or two sets depending on gradient of ramp.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

yeh same.
last two sets of rollers, if i go deeper it goes off center.
but i drive mine on so it could be the differance.
launching is roughly the same, other wise my anchor on the bow sprit hits the roller on the winch post,
it rolls off the trailer, not float off.

Launching & Retrieving
Hi Have a look at our website www.boatlatch.com
Have a look at the video It gives a look at fibre glass and ally boats being loaded and unloaded. Both trailers are in a bit too deep , but that depends on the ramp, tow bar height and the set up of the trailer. Geoff.

general rule i have with 6.5m
general rule i have with 6.5m fibreglass is i get both axles just submerged in the water, just before the lights - easy to gauge when your reversing.
