Try these guys for scrap grade ingots http://www.ingotmetals.com.au/index.html
Or some of the scrap yards offer lead in large amounts

Or try getting your hands on
Or try getting your hands on some old lead/acid car batteries. Decent amount of lead to be had once you cut them open. Empty them out & flush them with fresh water before you cut into them. Wear gloves through the whole process just to offer a bit extra protection.

A mate and I bought a pile
A mate and I bought a pile off Gumtree, bloke had 500kg of old bullets from one of the rifle ranges.
Took a fair bit of work to melt it all down, shitty job, ended up with about 200- 250kg after that, will keep us out of trouble for years.

You will be a slow talker after melting that lot down. I did a batch about 5 years ago......never again.

Yes JohnF, know what you
Yes JohnF, know what you mean.
Was raining the first day so we did the first batch in the shed, had flames 3 feet high out of the pot and the fumes were terrible, headaches, seeing 3 people for a few days and we were wearing respirators.
The other batches were done outside and we stood upwind was still a terrible job.
Have enough clean stuff to use as we need it but we wont be doing again ever either!

I have all the gear and do it in an open air location, full respirators, Face, hand and arm protection.
i do it all over 3 ring burners melting lead in an old saucepan with a pourer on it, get through it pretty quick with 3 or 4 moulds going at the same time

The snapper sinkers
Get thru the lead. We only did 25kg a couple of months ago. Takes a fair while for two people to get thru it.
