LED lights

Been a while since I last posted on Fishwrecked but I have just had my floor replaced in the boat and decided to go crazy with LED lights. I don't mind getting out night fishing and thought I would improve on my lighting in my boat. I had LED lights under the gunnels already.

These are below the water line on the transom. They are that flexible LED strip stuck on a strip of aluminium covered in araldite. I have also stuck a few on the gunwhale rubber around sides as well. I have redone the port side since this photo and the tape was there to hold the flex conduit in place while the silicon was drying as I don't won't to drill in to the transom any more than I have to and silicon was the next solution. Since redoing the port side, the light strip is hard against the motor mounting plate to match the starboard side.

I bought a couple of 18Watt slim work lights for the targa bar to light up the bait board and beyond. I installed LED's under the gunnels a while ago and they're still going good apart from a few on the fritz.

I also bought a 9" light bar from Ebay for $90 and stuck it on the bow. Have to test out how good it is once the weather comes good. This is with the light bar off.

And light bar on.

The light bar on the bow draws 4 amps, the LED navigation lights draw 200 milliamps, the cabin lights draw 2.4 amps and the transom lights draw 700 milliamps. All up with the sounder, the cd player and the marine radio, the draw on the battery is 8 to 9 amps with the motor off.

I think it is only 54 Watt.

I think it is only 54 Watt. Only a 9" light bar. My uncle stuck one of those HID remote lights on his boat bow and when we were out one night, the light beam seemed too narrow. But I have only just stuck mine on yesterday and have yet to test it but I'm hoping that it provides enough flood.
