Leeman

G'day all, So the refurb of my boat is nearing completion and looking to give her a birthday on the water, so am planning on a few days in Leeman. mate used to have a shack about 30km north of the town a few years ago but not sure on access now. Looking at probably staying in the caravan park and launching at the town ramp. So my question is any local info of general direction to head and depths?
Cheers
Andy

Head straight west
20 mile of so to the bank out there. Plenty of fish amongst that area, just be careful with the winds.
Being a gnarloo local, I'm sure you have the wind / boating safety aspects covered.
have a look in town for a place to rent also, not crazy prices compared to Jurien and nice and peaceful.
Theres an island to the north west (beagle island from memory) which has plenty of Bommies around it, so should hold some ok fish also.
We trolled some lures around ther, but the bloody north west blowies were coming up and hitting the lures in the spear like torpedoes! Hahaha

I was up there a couple of weeks ago. The new ramp is good but a little steep. Clear seaweed if you need to for tyre grip on the ramp.
I was advised that inside at the 30 to 40 mark holds fish but couldn't get a bite.
We went out to the drop off & eventually did well. Lots of baldies.. We were about 23 miles out.
Have fun with the new boat!

Make sure you read the sign
Make sure you read the sign about how to head out from the ramp. There's a rather nasty reef straight out from the ramp that, I've been told, has caught out quite a few people.
There have been some nice dhuuies caught around Corner break. There's also some real sexy lumps, bumps and holes Just off Little Anchorage that can hold some nice fish

Leeman
Use the new ramp, head out of using the channel markers, good ground due west at about 40m. Week ends looking fantastic in Leeman. Happy hunting...

If you go to the navionics
If you go to the navionics webapp they both show up on there. Corner break is roughly south west of the Leeman townsite and you'll see it on the chart just to the west of where the chart changes from blue to white depth around 20 to 30 metres. Little Anchorage is about 8km south of the townsite, and can normally be found by looking for a length of white beach sand (it can be worth doing the short drive down there to check out the state of the beach as the first time I went there I was told to look for the white beach. We ended up going as far down as Green Head because we didn't spot a white beach. Turns out the beach was covered in seaweed)

Your mates shack must be
Your mates shack must be pretty close to where I fished for 3 seasons, at Sandy Bay just south of Knobby Head?
Most of the shacks there are gone now.
Incidentally, bumped into your mate at Lakeside the other day, in his new shop Pie High

Ha ha How's he doing up
Ha ha How's he doing up there? Must give him a call and some shit lol. I remember the track in was exactly 27km north of Leeman. Those were the days I had my old Pacemaker and I was doing a lot of diving, probably the best diving and fishing I've ever done out from there. I know it was further north of Gumtree bay. Yeah Calm came through and ordered them all gone.

I dived ALOT of snagged
I dived ALOT of snagged craypots around Beagle Passage and north along the reef from there.
Quite a few "conveniently" burnt down during one of the bushfires that came thru...
