linking Lowrance

hey guys,
I have brought a new Lowrance Hook 7, to run along side my Elite 7 HDI. Can these be linked ?? is it hard to do?. I am thinking that if I spot some lump / fish on the Hook 7, that I could mark the spot somehow & it would show on my HDI unit !! or am I wrong. The Hook 7, does NOT have GPS, it is solely for scanning what is below. Searhced the web, can't find any useful info about linking these 2 units

Not sure if those exact units can talk to each other but both being lowrance youd assume so. I purchased a yellow ethernet cable from chivers which simply plugs into the back of both my hds units. Now when i come across fish on my sounder i can simply scroll back, mark the spot and it will save on my gps sitting next to it. Do both of your units have the yellow ethernet port on the back?

Hook7 or Hook7x ?
I thought the Hook 7 had GPS as it is a combo. Going by the way that Lowrance name their products I'd put money on you having a Hook 7x (fishfinder only). Both the Hook and the HDI series will have NMEA0183 output but are unlikley to to be able to receive data (input). E.g. You could share GPS location from the HDI unit to a VHF radio for distress calls with your location embeded in the call but couldn't take data from the radio and display on the HDI.
You'd need something with ethernet (yellow port on back of unit) or full NMEA output and input to link successfully. HDS units have this.
Your best bet is download the manual for both (link below) and look up references to NMEA. If it only says OUTPUT only you're shit out of luck.

yes mate, I only the hook7 fishfinder only.
maybe I am shit out of luck, BUGGER.
But its OK, as I was really chasing the advantage of having 2 full screens
