You gotta earn your spots not just inherit them form fishing forum members.

my best advice would be to fish the sound and the inshore protected waters to start with until you get familiar and comfortable with your new tinnie.

small in shore reef structures will hold skippy, snapper, ect. The key is, pick good weather, anchor, plenty of burley, good fresh baits and lightly weighted rigs, and patience! You will catch 20 crap fish for every 1 good fish sometimes but over time you learn what seems to work for you and what doesn't.

you will need to put in the time and effort though, people don't just give away spots willy nilly

+1 - Scano's Golden Rules

You need to learn about a boat in the ocean (particularly a tinnie), and do the hard work.  Scano's advice is 100% gold.

Safety is key - I still get a laugh out of post "snapper, snapper, snapper" - http://fishwrecked.com/forum/snapper-snapper-snapper

every now and again.

Get a gps and just go

Get a gps and just go pinging.  That seems to be what everyone else does. If you can afford a boat you can afford a chart. Buy a chart of the metro area and go from there. I can give you a couple off spots but from memory you have already fish there in canning vale.

Any of the inshore reefs are worh a go.

I took my son out for the first time just to catch some wrasse near the hillarys southern channel marker, for bait for my next offshore trip.

Ended up with a 550mm king george and similar size harlequin.

Only downside is he thinks im a good fisherman now
