Little bro's PB - Canning River
Submitted by langerz on Thu, 2011-04-28 14:55
My little bro went fishing last week in the Canning and landed this monster 39.5cm Bream also my brother in law caught himself a 32cm Bream around the same time, was in the afternoon. Bait used was prawn. They had bbq'd fish for dinner that night!
Little bro nearly smashed my PB of 40cm!
Pics below! (both of them on a plate...its not a small plate either)

bit sad to see the 39cm one
bit sad to see the 39cm one make it to the dinner plate, the bigger ones are generally breeding fish and are necessary to keep the populations going. but would have been a good fight none the less.
how did they taste?

the plate
^^^ i'd tend to agree but as long as you don't take every bream you catch and only the odd one i'd let it slide.
awesome fish but.

yeah well i also told him
yeah well i also told him that i would of returned them to the water for breeding reasons but it was up to him to make the decision to keep them.
Hopefully i can get him to release the biggies like i do in the future! He said they tasted good, the fish in the top left pic is the 39.5cm bream with the 32cm.
Cheers,

Congrats to ya brother! Very nice fish. Everyone has different beliefs when it comes to fishing and perhaps if people kept their opinions to themselves more people might post on here! As long as it's within the rules nothing needs to be said.

sweet fish for the PB next it
sweet fish for the PB next it will have to be the 40cm fish and there are plenty of them around if you look in the right places.
Have never eaten them myself(dont trust the swan river)If only all the other species in the swan got the same treatment as bream.

What a Beauty!
Great catch mate! With all the jigs and lures getting around these days just goes to show you can never underestimate the power of the old river prawn! Don't see anything wrong with taking the odd fish home for a feed either not that swan/canning bream would be on my wish list
