Sorry out of towner and have read a fair bit about people fishing for bread and butter fish and squid around there. Are you actually allowed to fish around there or is it a sanctuary? Been meaning to take the young fella there but not sure if allowed. Cheers

Marine Sanctuary
There is a marine sanctuary that extends about 100 meters around the island. It is marked with yellow bouys. No fishing inside the sanctuary.
As long as you stay out of that area your fine to fish.

As said above.
Once you're close to the island you will physically see the buoys. From there you can just line them up and you will know the boundary of the sanctuary. You wont need to be too close to the island to pick up bread n butter species though.

looks like navionics to me
looks like navionics to me mrx. about $17 for the app the hi definition version aint worth the extra $50 IMO
I use both navionics and an app called isailor
the maps for isailor are dearer, but more often updatednad more accurate for navigation(chart corrections from the hydro office are done within days of them coming out) u can also overlay AIS and radar- its a more powerful chart package more shaped to commercial use( the Dampier pilots use it to bring in BIG boats)

You dont need to go really
You dont need to go really close to the island. I have found the fishing is better on in the more weedy areas with patches of sand.

Ya never know what might swim
Ya never know what might swim past aye
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.
