Little Red on red

Dont you just love the little reds. This one was as small as they get. And the good news, we caught a stack of the little critters, but no big ones

Did a ROV job on one of the new gas pipelines near you Crasney recently, absolutely amazed at how many juvenile reds were on it even though its only been in the water a couple of months. Clouds of them blocking the cameras in places and right up to shallow (5 meter) water.

Looked at Willy and was dying for a Fish. Wind blowing in the morning, and we were thinking off heading up to Shark Alley for a squid or 2, but was blown West. Heading into the NEer with the tub was going to be a rock and roll affair.

We ended up in the lea of Enderby, playing around, and when she chilled a little headed toward west reef. Still lumpy, but at least we got a fish in. Glassed off by 8pm, but Sunday night with work Monday headed in. Tested the new ETEC at WOT and she purrs compared with the 2S Johno smoker.

We must have come across a little school. This fella/lady was the smallest off the bunch. I dont normally snap away, but just had to with this little one. Jill was on to a fish (LMAO turned out to be a Ugly sweetlip) and wouldnt help with the shot.

I didnt want to keep the red out of the water long, so just did the long arm shot.

If anyone up here also know what we got into? They were by the herring amount. Every secong drop bang. I was using bait (Yeh I know -- felt lazy) on a snell and at one stage had 3 on two hooks. They looked exactly like SW snook or Pike. Also like little Pickhandles but no marking and the teeth not as pronounced. I suspect some tropical pike, but with this fish I have no idea. The sounder looked like a bait school under us. In about 15m. By the way there was no limit I could see in the books onboard, and stripped was Killa Bait, outdoing fresh squid. Jill was fishing with a single Kami No 6/0 Paternoster, I was using a single snell using a Big red top and a long red bottom both 7/0 with a running bean and everything was ripping into the "pike" strips, including cannibal pike.

Do we get a tropical pike up here. I will scan Wreckopaedia.
