Live fibre venom pe 2-5 or the 3-8 pe

Which rod suits better? The Live fibre venom over head 2-5pe or the 3-8pe. Using for bottom bashing anywhere between 20 - 80m on dhus, snapper and all that stuff. Putting fin nor marquesa Ma12 on it. Want to be able to drop half decent weight (16oz) but still be lightish. Is the 2-5 pe ballsy enough ? No where in bluddy Perth have these rods in stock so can't go have a feel of them :/

I brought my pe 3-8 for a talica 12... bit heavy for metro and those depths. Rip the poor snappers jaw off!!. Now just a trolling setup with mono on it.
I now use a talica 8 on a shimano type J 3-5pe for those depths (only use upto 12oz due to thinner braid) which is just as good if not better than the live fibre venom. Both are good rods though.... I also have the pe 8 venom popping rod
Cheers

Yeah as Barraslayer said,
I also have venom 3-8. I really love it but only use it up north for deep water (has yanked a few big Reds up....)bottom bouncing. It's a great rod and still vry happy to use it but fi I did it again I would go the 2-5.
the 3-8 is a rod you could lock up a stella 18000 and jig for dogtooth with. (it's got more than I have these days....lol)

I have both the 2-5 and the 3-8 both used with a Talica 12 for bottom bouncing. Light and you can use it all day, kilo leads no problems. I like the 3-8 purely and simply for its deepwater ability from 150m and deeper but the 2-5 will also handle up to 150m no problem. Either are capable of taming big fish including sharks up to 2+m from that depth.
Got both of mine at the Mandurah boatshow @ $100 off retail

Oh to easy, sounds like I'm set on the 2-5 then. So u drop in over 100m with that much lead and still feels fine ? Doesn't feel to heavy when drifting at all?

Talica 12 sits nice on it?
Talica 12 sits nice on it? Was thinking the marquesa ma12 or the talica 10.

To me, the 2-5 fishes 16oz
To me, the 2-5 fishes 16oz easily, I guess it depends on what you are used to ! It is a relatively narrow spool and has a low centre of gravity so it doesn't want to roll over and you don't fight with the rod as well as the fish.
The Talica 12 is a personal preference. To me, its feels light and I can fish all day with it. I know of forum members that tell me they fish 300m with a Talica 8 - this would not surprise me as the Talicas are built like tanks with huge torque.
There may be better or worse out there, this is just what I use. If you want to hold one and load it up then go to Tuckeys in Mandurah, they usually have a good stock.
I have no experience with the Marquesa so I cant comment.
