Looking for advice for first trip to abrolhos

Gday all, Im hoping to get out to the abrolhos islands for the first time early next year and looking for any advice on general depths / areas we should hit up with jigs and softplastics for demersals around the southern group also anywhere we can pull boat into the shallows and sleep on a beach or island overnight. I know your not allowed to camp, it would just be us two and our sleeping bags after dark (no fires, cooking etc). Have got some good advice from a couple of guys on here but always looking for more if you have a moment and can help cheers Dave

Keen also

keen to also hear what the advice is. We would also be keen to tag along with another group, if someone was looking to organise a couple of boats to go.  We would be at the smaller end of the boat range (6.8m Bar Crusher), but I think it should work.

30ish mile.. thought about it myself in my boat which is about 5.5 overall. Distance and carrying gear doeasnt bother me at all or cooking on deck. Just with carrying the gear it would be pretty cluttered sleeping on the boat as well. My mate suggested sleeping on inflatable sunlounges :P

Not very hard

When do you plan on heading over?

We have done it a few times now and its not as hard as you think. We normally go to the Easter group in the middle but have wanted to go to the Pelseart group.

At Pelseart there are moorings at middle island which aren't too far off shore, you can normally moore there and jump onto the island.

As for depth we always use the straight hook free diving but if you look around anywhere from the 30 - 50m mark there are heaps of lumps and fish in that area.

Cheers

 For the guys in smaller

For the guys in smaller boats, particularly where fuel range might be a concern, I’ve been told that there is a charter company who provides mothership services. I understand they can do as much or as little as you like from just carrying fuel to live-aboard with meals (but you use your own boat for all your day fishing etc.).

Would be a cool way to do it I reckon.

Ive done a couple of trips

Ive done a couple of trips in my Bar crusher 615c and its plenty big enough for 2 guys to carry all the gear extra fuel and sleep in...... as always with offshore/ longrange trips weather is the biggest issue. It can get really windy real quick out there and the run home can be bumpy as hell if you get caught out so as long as your confident in you boat youll be ok.

Fishing is great and no end of places to fish, surf and generally have a good time. Post up when you see a weather window as if im off ill always be keen on a mission over
