Hi Guys,
I have an old 2st 8hp Johnson Seahorse for the tinny.. Dunno the year assume 80s..
Motor itself runs sweet, however last trip mid trip instantly lost drive to the prop when in gear, however revving fine although lost telltale also.
No prop damage so dont think i hit any objects..
Any thoughts or weak spots on where to look first??!!
cheers!

Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Most impellers (water pump)
Most impellers (water pump) sit over the drive shaft.
Since you have lost drive and water flow I would be dropping the lower unit and see if there is drive shaft damage( stripped splines?

same thing just happened to
same thing just happened to my 5hp 4 stroke suzuki - was carting a few people to shore at rotto and gave it a squirt and it just started revving - snapped the driveshaft at the pinion gear....... pretty average for a motor that is only about 3 years old....

sounds like drive shaft
either a stripped input spline or snapped drive shaft .
drop the leg and have a look . not hard to take lower unit off .
