Lower Blackwood Trout
Submitted by Greenroom on Mon, 2015-08-03 17:34
Hey everyone. I went downstream of Nannup on the Blackwood around the Jalbarragup area and had no luck at all with any trout.
Am I fishing in the right area? Is it the right time of year? The water is high and the river is flowing. It looks like somewhere that could hold trout but I may be wrong.
I'd appreciate any info on where I could get trout and is it the right time of year?
thanks.

Lots of water makes it hard.
Lots of water makes it hard. Most the trout will be moving up into the streams this time of year.

I have always found that
I have always found that spring is the is the best time to catch trout in SW rivers. You want to fish the faster running waters as the water levels are dropping from the winter levels.

Lower Blackwood
You can catch fish as low at Grt North Rd below Sues Bridge on Brockman Hwy. In this area water level is critical.... too high = too hard. The fish will be a challenge as if you hook up its likely to be big. You must fish the quiet edges of the rapids where any fish can rest but still see possible food flowing past in the current. 1 more thing... what ever you offer must be BIG... flies or lures. Happy hunting.
