Hi all. Does anyone have one of these and has anyone had any grief from buying one on line? Looks like a great price given it includes the gold navionics sd card. Cheers. Westy

They are on special as the new CHIRP versions are out. Taht's a good price as they provide a good picture. The only issue with one this size is the screen size and trying to put all three images on the dispaly at once. It will be tiny. You're almost better off getting two and have one as a dedicated plotter while the other is a sounder or someting along those lines. I'm looking at the Elite 7 CHIRP to make sure I get a decent screen size to cater for all the options. Even then I'm considering a second unit for plotting so I can look at split screen sounder images etc.

I dont think there is an elite 4 chirp model, only the 5 and 7. I have an elite 4X HDI on my kayak and find the screen size ok as its so close to me, on a boat though it would be too small. Are the maps world wide?? I read on one of the kayak forums where someone bought a sounder from the US and all the mapping was of the USA only.

That's true it is only the 5
That's true it is only the 5 and 7 at the moment. I agree it's more of a kayak/small tinny option but only due to the size. I've used an elite 7HDI before and was very impressed with it. Not sure on the mapping thing but that would only apply to the base map. The card would cover that I would expect as it's specific to that area.
