Lowrance HDS 10 Gen 1 software update

Just after information and any feedback on the software update. Not really a technology wiz so not sure on exactly how to do it but it's well overdue for the update. Will it erase any spots? Any ideas or advice appreciated.

Been a while since they have done any updates for gen 1.Sort of like you dont get any more updates for windows 95.
After a quick google it seems the last was in 2012 version 4.1.
The lowrance website tells you everything you need to know.

Backing up your spots before
Backing up your spots before any update is a very wise move and then perform the update. Download from website and then load ont a card, you should end up with a .upd file on the sd card. with unit off put the card in and then turn it on and await instructions.

Unless you want the new features like sonic hub or radar are structure scan then not worth it. I found when i did mine a few years back it slowed down very frustrating. If its working fine then leave it

If you choose to update the software, do not use your Navionics card to transfer the data. Buy another card to do it. Otherwise you risk corrupting the card and that would be a disaster because they cost hundreds of dollars!
Do the right thing and there will be fish tomorrow.
