Lowrance hds 7 software update

Has anyone done an update before is it worth doing i have heard of people having problems after the update, mine has not been updated in 3 years. And will it delete my gps marks if i do the update.

hds gen 2, i update mine both
hds gen 2, i update mine both the lowrance updates and recently the navionics update. lowrance updates have made small improvements. i dont loose my trail anymore. the navionics update yes yes yes, No you dont loose any marks

Worth backing up your waypoints and settings
The updates I've done have never deleted user data, but backing up settings and waypoints is dead easy anyway. Be worth it just for peace of mind alone....
Always updated and never had issues (touch wood!)
