Went with a group and five boats, accommodation on Island was good, and the ladies serving the meals great, the anchoring is a bit touch and go if the wind comes in from the North east or west,so pick a spot in front of the fish cleaning area,NOT on the far right tip as the rollers swamped and sunk a new boat the week b4 I got there, the bar is good and the prices not bad,Mr.Edward Kelly, more commonly known as Ned Kelly is alive and well selling fuel on the beach for,$3.00 a liter, the price may be better now though, but all in all We ,I had a crew of 4 were happy, good luck jersey

Take a wide selection of Raiders in 40 65 and 80 grams, and a few laser pros and crazy deeps. That will get you very in the hunt. ALso throw in a few mid size dumbells and roostas and you have all bases covered. Poppers for queenies and Trevors, raiders for Tuna and Queenies, trolling lures for mackies/Trout.

ALso worth taking a squid jig up, as fresh squid is the shit for catching better bottom fish along with the mack tuna you spun up during the arvo before.

Island fishing is pretty

Island fishing is pretty good.

was up there couple months ago, spent a day or 2 walking around the island

Picked up plenty of small GT's to 4kgs and plenty of gold spots as well.

The Jetty is pretty good fishing on light gear. If you fish in the channel part where the big boats come in, there are schools and schools of small GT's about a kile or so big, they love the rattling vibe lures.

Also managed to pickup small mac's, long tom's, small quennies from the jetty.. Also plenty of squid around.

I would also recommend taking a heavy outfit for a night fish off the jetty for some arm stretching action! good fun.

Back of the island, if you ask the guys in the bar they will give you a lift over an back. Best to fish low changing tide. If they drop you right over the back, walk along the beach to the south point, where there is a small reef you can walk out on. Fish with poppers, plastics and small lures across the reef ledges for good fun GT's around 3-4kg mark on 6lb is wicked. Also get some queenies to 3kgs, cod event ake poppers there!

In the boat, when you leave the island (Facing onslow) head out to the cyclone drum and turn right. Follow the island along towards the oil platform (You will know what im talking about when you see it). There is some reef out towards the platform which is about 3-6 metres deep, it runs along the lsand about 1km off or so, and holds some nice spangled emperor.

On the island, Ive also been told if your standing on the beach looking towards onlose, you walk left out to the spandy point or spit, and balloon out mulies, or slimey mackerel, can get spanish macs. Last year there was a 8kg mack landed there!

Best tip, dont be afraid to take plenty of lures for land based casting. Far out catches bait.

I used 2-3 inch poppers in all colours, and everything took them, awsome to watch the GT's smash them

I believe your only allowed 2km off the island in that boat.

Cheers
