Magic Day

Had an ADO up my sleeve and checked the weather report with seabreeze saying it was blowing and WW saying it was gonna be a glass off. Confired with BOM and WW had the win.

Woke my 4y old up at 5:30am, had some toast, finished getting ready and was in the river by 7am. Started out trolling with the Yo Zuri Minnow and got a few strikes (I think) with no hookups so we drifted across the flats working the SX40 with no luck at all so moved out to the drop off and started working the ZX40 and bang, a little flathead. Went back to some broken shallower ground and hooked into a 33cm yellowfin bream which gave a nice fight on the 1-3kg rod with 1000 reel. After drifting back to the drop off again I was jigging the ZX40 and the rod bent over, after a few decent runs on the 6lb line and we had a 38cm flattie on board. I noticed some baitfish jumping around and cast into them about 20 times for no strikes.

The little fella wanted to have a swim after not having any luck catching anything with his handline or rod so I started up and headed to a nice beachy area when I noticed baitfish jumping again but this time I could also see something much bigger disturbing the surface. What followed was manic fun chasing a school of choppers around and casting into them and taking turns winding the line in. The little man was stoked to catch his first fish all on his own and if I must say did an excellent job of keep tension on the line.

All in all just a brilliant day.

Too many untold stories of kids glued to screens mate.

My Pop passed away last year and his passion was taking me and and my brother fishing all through Mandurah and the Peel Inlet. I always feel like I am keeping part of him alive by passing this onto my kids and in time, their kids.
