Mandurah crab scooping

Did a bit of early morning scooping along the Coondanup foreshore and Dampier Ave with pretty disappointing results. Only managed 9 crabs between the 4 of us. Barely any crabs out, even undersized ones were few and far between. Coondanup also seemed pretty weedy compared to last year, not too many sandy spots. Even chucked the mask and snorkel and dunked my head under to have a better look and nada. Hoping it might just be this particular weekend.

Not sure if it was because the tide was going out, or if because the weather's been a little on the cool side lately, but it was sparse pickings this morning. Had a chat to an older couple walking the flats and even they've never seen it this bare. Anyone else had any luck early morning scooping in the estuary?

Me and 3 friends hit the same so this morning and got bugger all too! 1st time trying coodanup and was suprised it's such a popular spot with all that weed, it was thick and just kept going! Barely seem the bottom the whole time we were out. Checked out another spot too and no one there seemed to have many either.

Coondanup was a brilliant spot last year. It was a nice mix of sand and weed, and produced well for me. I'd always managed to get a decent feed there, no idea why it's so weedy this year.

Would you reccomend north or south of the Parkridge boat ramp? Or is there a different spot that would be good? Had a look at the weather for this weekend and it doesn't look promising, cool weather and high winds, but I'm determined get a decent feed, doesn't feel like summer without it!

Scooping went well down at bouvard near the caravan park, but mainly after dark weekend before last.  Pots worked better...

Aus day

Between 4 blokes got our 40 in just over half an hour on Aus day. If your not getting your limit I'd suggest searching for a new spot.. They are in force in the right areas..

I found the bigger ones came

Fri, 2015-01-30 15:07

I found the bigger ones came out later on in the morning once you started stiring things up a bit. At one point I'd jumped out of the dinghy to scoop one and another three biggins scat in different directions and another one savaged my calf.

 No luck this morning, came

Sat, 2015-01-31 11:12

No luck this morning, came home with a big fat 0. Tried Coondanup again, Novara ramp and Island point. Probably would've gotten something at Novara if I had a chance to get deeper, but had a work collegue who wanted to come along, yet didn't listen to my instructions to bring enclosed shoes. She wore some shitty "fashion" shoes and ended up being too terrified to walk any deeper than knee deep. Last time I be nice and let someone tag along. Even my nephew was getting peeved about it.

I've been out twice this week

Wed, 2015-02-11 14:34

I've been out twice this week and have gotten my bag twice in 30 mins and that's scooping from the dinghy (I only jump out for the huge ones) so I am dropping about 6 that disappear into the weed.

PM me if you want the spot mate as they are everywhere.
