Mandurah demersals

Headed out on Tuesday with Blake from Oceanside. Fished some shallow ground for solid skippy. Dropped down a skippy fillet and nailed a 19kg dhuie(weighed). BLAIR move to a could more spots seen us nail a small wiskery shark, foxfish, leather jacket and harli on jig. Next drift Blake gets stitched in the reef on jig, probably a baldie or big dhu! I also lost a good fish on a drift baited mulie.

Headed out yesterday first drop mate nailed a NW Blowie haha next drop he got an eel( he was happy when I nailed an undersize dhu) change of location seen me nail a 7.8kg pink frist drift. Next drift hook another pink but dropped him half way up! Another drift nothing so time to was to the land of the giants!!!

First drop I got a baldie on a drift baited bony herring. My mate an 18.5kg dhu. Ok 1 more fish and where put of here. Another drift mate hooks up and a small dhuie size but released and I got. 9kg :)

Now time to do it all again tomorrow with a couple of dives for jumbos!!!

How do you know the big boy

Wed, 2012-05-23 09:23

How do you know the big boy isnt still swimming??

I know if i pulled a 18kg dhu and had to release it, a pic would be taken before hand. Well done mate, From what Blake said there some solid fish for the shallows.

These fish were not all kept

Wed, 2012-05-23 11:47

These fish were not all kept we already had pink in the box then got the baldie and big dhu. Next drift got the small and medium dhu and medium dhu was kept and small dhu released.

On another note Blake from oceanside wasn't out this day he was out the Tuesday previous when I myself got a 19kg dhu. There is nothing wrong with catch more than 2 dhuies u can't help what bites the line but there is no need to jump to conclusions. Maybe you should have read the thread as well as looking at the pictures.

Thanks for the clarification Dhuvinile

Its easy to misinterpret photos and for forum members to draw incorrect conclusions especially when pics involve "percieved" breaches of bag limits or any fishing rule for that matter. I guess over the years we have all had it drummed into us regarding these rules and regs and its important we help educate fisho's who look at these pics as best we can. Thats why its very important to clearly explain in your post what the circumstances were otherwise you invite such critisisms. All of us who have been on here for many many years have probably had the same critisisms thrown at us, perhaps unfairly at times but justified in the context of ensuring everyone of us keep an eye out for the rules, which can be very confusing at times.

I don't think any mallice has been shown in any of the posts and all are genuinely trying to get a heads up on what happened where you can have more than 2 Dhuies on the boat.

We all know that as Dhuvenile said, you can't pick and choose what bites your line so its quite reasonable to have more than two dhuies onboard at any one time, (de-hooking and getting release weights sorted etc. The key being that any fish after the first two are released, and whilst the initial post did say that the small one was released the pic judging by the fact the angler is holding it inferrs that the big one that you are calling for 18.5kgs was just caught rather than the other way around. ie two dhuies on deck plus the baldie and snapper from prior drifts and a fresh big dhuie which was obviously kept. Again as you said, its important to read the thread as well as the just interpretting the pic.

If no pics were taken of the big fish previously and while you were getting ready to release the smaller one you took the oportunity for a pic, then maybe thats what you needed to explain to make it super clear fpor everyone. No rules broken and easy for people to understand what is going on.

The lesson here for everyone is to consider the pics you are posting and ensure your explanation is clear if there is any potential for misinterpretation, and for those viewing make sure you read and re-read the posts that go with them before interpretting the pic.

No foul play on!

PS: Great catch by the way, thats an impressive bag for a days fishing.

 Thanks for understanding

Wed, 2012-05-23 12:48

Thanks for understanding Andy. In the future I'll just post single picture or what we actually brought home so there is no confusion or suggestions of r

Wrong doing. There have been many of days when. We have all released sized fish I remember a day on the 5 fishing for pinkies we caught our bag in 45 min sat there for 2 ours catching an releasing 6-8kg pinks even got release shots.

Anyways no harm done.
