Hi All,
Im heading down with the family to Mandurah in a couple weeks time to do a bit of fishing in the river and ocean, as it will be my first time down there fishing i have asked a few ppl around that i know but they tell me its very hard to sound down there for spot as its very flat.
i dont like grovelling for spots but would of some good area just off the cut, the cheese and kisses will be with me so would like to hook on to something to keep the interest up, target ideally would be small pinkies and dhueys.
im guessing the river will be similar to the swan - look for some structure pilons etc also what bait rig would be the best bait to use in both?
appreciate any assistance given.
Thanks Again Dan

Yes it is pretty flat
Perhaps try jane service reef but obviously fished heavy. The best other advise is to look at the topography of the sea and search in those areas. There is some ground out from the cut.

Five fathom
Back of the 5 fathom is worth a try for snapper
Personally i wouldnt bother with the James Service unless you like wrasse
Respect to the others opinions but thats my experience
The ground west of the 5 fathom is very flat. I've caught several dhues in one small area & there is nothing on the sounder. Just a matter of drifting & finding reef dwelling fish.
Very hard to give helpful advise for Dhuie fishing off Mandurah.
There are some KGs about so maybe add a smaller hook to the bottom leader.

CP, thanks for the response - i did hear it was pretty hard of mandruah, im only going to go out once when im down there so want to try and get something if i can.
so you think just keep drifting on say 30m of water and try your luck? i might try the james Service on the way back in.

30 Mtrs
Yep around 30 Mtrs is worth a try
Drift until you catch a Sergeant Baker or some other reef fish
then drift over the area again - preferably with the fresh fillet on a hook.
