I've been heading out wide
I've been heading out wide for the past 2 years here and am still struggling to get many fish :) i have had the most luck heading south 10 mile pls from dawesville. Out of mandurah ocean marina I have not found much ground at all except a few good days fishing the fathom at dawn. I plan to head north on Monday and keep sounding around..

Be prepared to travel!
Hard to find good productive ground anywhere closer than about 25 mile out.
long and flat prior to that

Mate i have been fishing
Mate i have been fishing mandurah for a few years now and it can be really hard work but dont give up there are fish around some days you just have to move around alot to find where there active there is some good ground in closer then the 5 fathom that holds fish and there is some great country out in the 35-40s put in the hours and it will eventually pay off.
I have found that the tides play a big part in there activity plenty more fish biting when the water is moving.
Goodluck.

Don't go so far out
From about 8nm west of the cut to the coast of Africa it is mostly dead ground. 19 fathom bank some times turns up a good feed as does the James service reef, but it is best to just go prospecting along a extension of FFB or the back edge of it before day break.
Put a bit of time in looking at a chart and making note of some good isolated features and give them ago.
