Margs River Fishing

I'm heading to Margs in a fortnight and have never put a line in the water down there and hoping for some tips on fishing there in Jan. I've scoped out a few spots and have come up with the following ideas of what to target so am I onto the right path:

Gnarabup Jetty - squid, herring, skippy, whiting

Gas Bay - tailor

Marg Rivermouth - yellowfin whiting, mullas

Alexandra Bridge - bream, crabs and further upriver for reddies

Cow Town - squid, herring, skippy, whiting

Augusta Marina - herring, small pinkies, monster sambo (already tangled with this big boy and lost)

Cheers JF

There is a small jetty with an old rusty gate to the north of Ellis St Jetty in Augusta and casting in to the shallows to the north of here has got me a few KGs. Also fishing the shallows around the mouth of the inlet I'm sure would produce whiting. Also, if you head out towards the lighthouse on Leuwinn Rd, check out Ringbolt Bay. Some good squid around the rocks there and plenty of goat fish and herring also. Only got a chance to do a small bit of fishing around there but keen to get back down there.

Around Margs, I think ive only ever fished the rocks around Redgate for a heap of herring.... Sure that any of the rocky reef systems along the coast that are safely accesible are going to show up some herring.

Bit of a hike but the sand flats around old dunsborough should be fishing alright for whiting at the moment I'd think.

Cheers mate. I've given Ellis St a crack before for a donut but would be a good spot with the younger kids in tow and definitely keen to chuck some poppers around Dunno.
