CRIRO are forecasting high likely hood of one forming peaking April.
Not good for the marine enviroment abbs still to recover from the last one 2010/11.
Might be some interesting fishing in the short term though. last time we had manta's, cobia, plenty of macks etc.

Pgfc Marlin Cup this
Pgfc Marlin Cup this weekend. Should be interesting to see if any billfish have followed the warm water down.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Some warmer water
There has been some warmer water pushing down, none of the SST charts have been showing much above 23.
Need to be a bit careful with your own water temp readings - on a hot day the top 50cm or so can heat up by over a degree through the course of the day.

Sea surface charts were
Sea surface charts were showing 24 last week, 25 north of Jurien but that was low swell hot days, so they were probably picking up the surface layers as well. Been cloud cover and more swell since then. Cyclone is likely to cool things down a bit too further north.

The reefs we dive on in
The reefs we dive on in Rockingham have only recently shown what looks like a full recovery from the last one. Hopefully it is not destructive.

Already here
The CSIRO rolled out their experimental forecasting model last year and predictions from November are pretty accurate for the Nigaloo to Shark bay area already.
You can read some info here:
https://research.csiro.au/mri-research-portfolio/home/climate-impacts-adaptation/marine-heatwaves/forecasting-marine-heatwaves/
and BOM's outlook for SST looks even grimmer for the coral and seagrass beds, with no respite until after June, here:
