Well where were the parents? never leave kids alone with large dogs whether they be yours or especially somone elses somtimes its not just the dogs fault as kids do tease animals and they bite back.

Type of dogs

Sun, 2014-01-19 08:49

One only had to look at the breed of the dogs to recognise the danger, one an American bulldog and the other a bull mastiff, not really dogs you would have near visiting children.
To take the analogy further and relate it to sharks, at least they got the right ones, with shark attacks, unless you actually follow the shark there is no guarantee you are going to kill the right one. So do a Barnett and KILL every shark over half the coastline.

I have a large mastiff who wouldn't hurt anyone, ( I think !!! ) And thats the point, even tho i know he is a good dog, the thought of him turning on someone scares me and no way i let kids play with him without being right there next to them. It would only take a few seconds to do some serious damage.

I hope the people involved recover from their injuries .

We have a toy poodle and a cattle dog. The poodle is more nippy than the cattle dog, especially around kids as kids pick her up and annoy her.

The cattle dog couldn't give two shits who is patting her.

What a stupid comment Uncle.

What a stupid comment Uncle. Clearly you have no idea what your talking about and your just trying to lash out to prove a point that you don't agree with the shark cull.

Dogs are one of the most regulated animals around.
Councils already have strict rules about how many dogs people can own. Governments already have strict policies on what sort dogs people can own.
If a dog even so much as makes a person feel nervous it can be declared dangerous and put down.
If a dog kills another animal it can be put down.

At the end of the day it doesn't even come down to what breed of dog it is. Small dogs bite way more people than large breed dogs they just don't do the same damage so they don't get the same attention. Its got nothing to do with a certain breed. Its got to do with owners having no idea.

If some one come into MY Backyard and got bitten by my dog it would get put down.

Certain breeds don't even have to bite any one and they are automatically declared dangerous.

So maybe sharks should be regulated the same as dogs? or is that kind of regulation alright for one creature and not another?

I've tried to stay way the hell out of these debates, not gonna change anything on a fishing forum.

But you criticise Uncle for a stupid, antagonising comment, then you compare regulation of a pet with regulation of an animal which is a fairly significant part of an ecosystem. Really, you don't see the hypocrisy?

Sorry mate its hard to explain on a forum to people who dont really know what your saying.

To make it clear i agree with dog regulations. If i dog so much as snarled at my young bloke it would be gone quicker than you could imagine.

Dogs should be regulated and OWNERS should be held alot more accountable for there dogs actions. After all a dog is what the OWNER makes it. If someone cant handle the training that is involved with some breeds then they shouldnt own one.

It was a stupid comment in the fact that he was trying to relate the most regulated animal in australia to the most protected.

not so ,I support the cull of whites over 3 meters, if it protects humans from getting maimed or killed and allows them to enjoy the ocean, whats this garbage the ocean it belongs to them, if that's true we had better stop raping and pillaging it, do you eat fish????? business will go to the wall, surf shops, holiday resorts etc just ask the punters on the beach, some wont go out past their ankles. all the anti cull drogos have is threats and intimidation, my 2 bobs worth

Your dead right cuthbad

Sharks are a vital part of an ecosystem, same as kangaroos are our national emblem and used commonly as a tourist attraction, as it stands at the moment WA is classed as the number1 shark death capital. Awesome that we have the best beaches in the world and yet most are too scared to swim at them. Even marc the great occolupo admits hes shit scared of them due to increase in numbers. So i agree with both sides kill the dog that attacks weather it is its fault or not, and kill the shark that is suspected of being the killer. If over 3 meters pop it anyways. And for the kangaroos lets keep mass culling because they do the most damage and are eating the grass. Argument against deadly shark/dog cull carries zero weight imo. Humans are the apex.

Mon, 2014-01-20 08:49

Man I love my Lotsa dog (more breeds in her than a bitsa) and she is very protective off our property. Hence why I am careful with her.

But I have always said that if she ever even nips someone I will knock her off.

A dog biting any human is not on.

It would certainly be better if they can id the shark, I strongly believe its one or two rogues. But if this is not possible control the numbers, not with extinction but control. It is the same as control over dangerous, perceived or otherwise dog breeds.

A law is made, stick with it. If you dont like the law maker, well its a democracy and you have your chance to do something about it. I agree with protests, I dont with breaking the law. And lets face it it has been "set" to drum lines now, abide by it and vote next time.
