hit up one of my spots NOR for some sharks last night and managed to get 2 in 3 hours. first little dusky was about 1m then the next i hooked was much much bigger and took an hour to get to the rocks and land it solo. 2.3m female dusky shark caught on 40lb wire twisted and doubled with a whole pike under a balloon on a sensor surf rod and an avet mxj5.8mc spooled with 20lb braid backing and 20lb mono to a 100lb wind on leader. pretty dam stoked to land a shark over 80kg on less than 10kg gear on my own off the rocks!! both sharks where caught and released.

Yeah it wasn't easy to hold
Yeah it wasn't easy to hold the shark and try get some photos as I couldn't get it out of the water haha. The photo of my hand compared to its head give you a good idea that it's a big shark.

keeps the bait well bellow
keeps the bait well bellow the surface, played around with rigs for a while and this balloon rigs gets more hits than any other that i tried. got another 4 sharks the next night at a spot SOR and guys next to me using different balloon rigs didnt get a run.

So
So the sinker is bellow the balloon ? How do you connect the balloons ? Sounds good just trying to learn how others do it

sinker is below the balloon
sinker is below the balloon and ballooon is about 2m above the bait. use a 3 way swivel and tie the balloon on with 20lb but use the 60cm latex balloons so when a shark grabs it the hooks set by it snapping the 20lb balloon line. easiest way ever.
