Metro mackies, Where are they?

Just wondering where the mackies are this year? Normally we would have had a fairly solid run by now, but reports on catches have been slim.

Is the water temp still up? Maybe just a really late run?

Or did i just miss it..

Damn it! Guess that's what happens when you concentrate on silly things instead of fishing for a few weeks.

Well its almost local now. A couple still around and a few off lano the other day. Will need to put in the hours now I would say its coming to an end. West end chicken run mackies on the troll at the same time as a couple of salmon is more than a slim chance at the moment.

Saturday before last we got 4 spanish and a decent tuna in 3 hours working the 30m line a few miles south of rotto. Went out again on Friday and trolled for 7 hours for a few bonito and a sambo. Hit and miss, but I reckon they are still around.
