Midwest Cyclone
Submitted by dodgy on Sat, 2021-04-10 20:06
Hope everyone on the Midwest coast has tied their boats down and cleaned up their yards. Going to be a bit wild for the next 48 hours.
Fingers crossed Denham is still able to keep on top of their fish frame bins being holiday peak time and all.

Not all of them are excited
Not all of them are excited about it. I know quite a few in the northhampton area are worried about topsoil erosion from flooding 2 weeks before seeding.

Pretty well set here in Gero now
Got the caravan stored in a nice big shed I town next to 2 nice boats and the yard tidied up. I'm hearing we're expecting 50 knots or so of wind at the height of the cyclone and it should pass through within 3 hours as it's moving quite quickly. Should I go for a snapper bash - albeit with "precorsions"? Lol.
Hopefully minimal damage anywhere in its path.
Will check back in later this arvo.

No need to go snapper fishing Gadsy, just get your landing net out and bag a few flying fish at your front door. Stay safe.

Dream run to Karratha today.
Dream run to Karratha today. Less on the road than COVID times. I reckon a few people caught out with the turning of red alert around 10:30 in Carnarvon and all the servos closing. No 24 hour unleaded. Stopped to help one guy who ran out of fuel 20kays south of Nanutarra but his mate had already got a lift so I stopped and offered him some hydration beverages which were appreciated.

Remember Cyclone Yasi that hit Nth QLD, they reckon when that went through some of the communities up that way it did a few hundred thousand dollars worth of improvements....

We'll it got pretty hairy half an hour ago
Some strong wind gusts caused some concern. Power's been out a while and some damage around town I believe, but relatively intact it seems.
I believe at least 1 house in Kalbarri gone. Not sure about here in Gero?

Some pretty strong winds for Gero, folks still live there. Hopefully it don't look too bad in the morning
