Mills Charters

So my Fathers Day present is a voucher to do a weekday trip with Mills out of Hillaries. I just did a forum search on them & have seen the less than flattering reviews but it's a present so I'm obliged to take the trip. Just wondering if it's still the same story, ie: take your own gear, bait & esky? Do they actually let you keep your catch in your own esky or do they insist on bundling the whole catch together in thier storage? Anyone know if the boat isn't as packed on weekday trips? Most importantly am I allowed to take a few drinks, (not too much, just 3-4 cans of JD) I can't anywhere that tells me that on thier website?
Thanks for any help.

I went out with them a couple of years ago. The boat got heaps of grey band and some snapper. They supplied bait and gear (i had my own gear). Each fish tagged by catcher and divided up accordingly. Used their Eskis and transferred to mine afterwards. We had a few beers as well.
Was a surprisingly good day. Fishing around 110m from memory was a bit of hard work though.

Went out with them on a night fish last year. Took my own rod and real and beers. Didn't have an issue with the fish esky - no fish caught :(

i used to be a decki for them. They will let u drink as long as u can walk at the end of the day they supply squid and mulies. They also supply gear but the rods are big alveys with mono so if u can bring your own gear. The fishing can always be good but depending on which skipper u have changes the catch by alot. Still worth a fish mate you will get some fish even if they are not dhus or balds.
If you got any questions pm me mate
Good luck

Thanks guys. I'll be taking
Thanks guys. I'll be taking decent gear borrowed from a mate. Either a Penn Squall 50 combo or Fin-Nor jigging combo (leaning towards the squall) but I will use their rigs. I'll only be taking a 4 pack of JD cans so no probs with me being able to walk at the end of the day. Reckon I'll take my own bait, no doubt my squid will be fresher than theirs & I've read heaps of posts about them running out of mulies really quickly. Free day on the water so it'll be a good day even if I don't catch but I'm still going to do what I can to maximise my chances :)
Cheers again for the info.
