Mindarie report

A great day on the water out from Mindarie. Managed to hit the new boat limit of category 1 fish and released quite a few more.

Here are a few pics from the day. We got sharks, sambos, Dhuies, Baldies, Harlequin, Pinkies, BB's, swallowtail, whiting, a big flattie, and lots more.

Loads more pics in the camera which will be posted later.

Looks like you had a good day out there. Well done! At least someone is out there catching fish. What depth were you in today in Andy? I am hoping to get out over the weekend.

We fished three bands of ground, the most productive was about 17nm offshore.
No pots out there at all so it made for a much easier session.

Biggest went 9kgs

Wed, 2009-04-08 20:57

The Harley was a cracker.
Interestingly the bigger dhuie coughed up a red crab it had been munching on.
Got destroyed by a few massive fish, ended up a great day on the water.

Looks like you had a great day!  Met Sylvie at the shops and she leaked that you were out fishing!

Went to the FADs for naught today!  Should have gone looking for you instead!

Some weird looking birds out there

Thu, 2009-04-09 09:36

We were followed by a pack of big gull type birds, but these were gulls on steroids. Slightly darker than your average seagull and twice the size. Definaitly not albies, muttons or anything else I've seen out there in countless years on the water. They were very aggressive and constantly dived on our lures. Any idea's?

Maybe they had been eating the mythical yellow tailed kingfish

Thu, 2009-04-09 09:40

that escaped from the fish farm.

Thu, 2009-04-09 15:17

thats a ripper red  - is it a near field trick of the camera or was that a 90cm+ fish?

not quite that good

Thu, 2009-04-09 15:37

near field makes it look bigger than it was but it was a good fish for sure. I think it was about 78cm
