monday morning's escapade.

well, got up this morning ,with the best of intentions , after over a 2 month dry spell with no time out on boat.

arrived at mindarie boat ramp at 4 30 am and launched.

got outside and thought it was a bit choppy , but continued on.

out into the 30's and sounded up something interesting , but wind now around 25 knots and a hell of a sea.

made it impossible to hold boat on mark. made 2 or three drops and just no point.

turned for home and motored back at 6 or 7 knots into the worst conditions i've yet been out in. many green ones over the bow . back inside the marina at 7.

what a nightmare.

(didn't stop a couple of brave (mad) lads in a 4.2 dory heading out  Surprised )

still ..... always tomorrow

Thought I would have a late

Mon, 2009-12-28 15:23

Thought I would have a late start due to the wind forecast, got to mindarie about 8, bit worried as there were alot boats going the other direction. Cruised out to 30-35mtr doin about 15knts and as the day went by the better it got. managed a couple of dhuie, with 1 keeper. Cruised back to the ramp by 2 doin 25knts and what nightmare the ramp was, thats another story. All I can say is ppl & pwc's with no respect for others.

We didn't go to early and slogged it out to rotto for a couple of dives. The wind did turn around and that made coming back easier, but it was still a bit of a workout.

Mon, 2009-12-28 17:40

my gf and i launched at 4.30am from hillarys, id say easiest the worst time out to rotto...even when we went to surf fruitbowls one time  in sw winds nd 3.5m swell. Anyway we slogged it out with the drifty and caugt a few small pinkys, blackass and a few other reefies. about 11.30 we decided to try the containers...but not much action there saw about 3 sambos pulled in, in an hour i managed a small amberjack. Ride home was albeit better but nothing to write home about.

yeah we had plans to head to the bank out from Mindarie though as mentioned it was blowing hard so we fished the three mile instead...

Was good that we stayed in as the oldman picked up a 11.7kg dhuie!

Mon, 2009-12-28 19:55

nice duhie wayne. we left point perron about 730 was a little choppy on the way out sat on about 18kn once we got out there (sw bank) it calmed of  for about 2 hours then the sw came in. We left our run home a bit late but with the wind and swell behind us we didnt get too wet sat on about 15 knt on the way home. The fish werent on the chew at my spots today but my girlfriend managed a 6-7 kilo queen snapper and i got one a bit smaller and two black bum. First time out since the ban started so was good just to be out there and it beat spending the day on land at 40degree
