Monkey Mia Sucess next Trip Exmouth in April
HI Guys,
Well we have just returned from our annual week camping in Monkey Mia
We had a few windy days but still managed to get out to the first channel most days for an hour or two
Luckily for us that was all we needed
Managed to get all the usual suspects, lots of school Mackeral, blue lined - Black Snapper, estuary cods, sharks off the beach, my son is 6'3 and wanted one bigger then him - job done
Big gold spot first drop of the trip which I originally called for a shark
Well we didn't travel more than 3 miles in our 4.8 m boat and whilst some larger boats headed round the west, we managed more than most on the fillet table
We do have our next trip in April to Exmouth coming up after last year driving up setting up camp and being told to evacuate due to the cyclone
Hopefully we have more luck this year
Just after some help with Exmouth
We are staying at Yardi Creek Caravan Park
Will try and get the boys onto a real mackeral, and hopefully a few good bottom fish
Any advice will be great, not really fished up there before and with our boat wont be heading to far outside the reef
Happy to trade a few MM spots if anyone is keen
Even a spot near Tandabiddi for some big squid, doesn't really matter as long as the boys are catching something, that was the best part of Monkey Mia
Thanks in advance, looking forward to Exmouth
Cheers Coach

Plenty of squid south of Tantabiddi ramp. Just fish the weed and you will find them. Don't be scare to try shallow water. We caught them in a meter of water last time.

Hard to get mackies past the sharks but trolling Laser Pros on drop-offs from about 15m - 20m has always got us plenty. First time there years ago two of us wnet out at Tantabiddi and put out 4 lures. After about 1 minute we had a 4-way hookup! Just use 30cm of single strand wire.
