Mono or Braid

 Hey lads,

I'm sure you have seen a few posts like this but i want some more opinions on what you guys prefer over braid or mono?

On all my reels at the moment I use braid, but am thinking of going to mono for a change. The only thing that stops me from using mono is the line thickness.

What do you guys think on braid and mono?

Would be a help if you let us know what type of fishing you do most, as both braid and mono have their benefits depending on fishing you are doing

Well most of my fishing is

Well most of my fishing is just land based, beach, jettys etc and i am just planning on using this for a setline, throwing it out and also ballooning when the weather permits. I will be looking at using anywhere between 50-80lb line and at the moment I am more leaning towards the braid so i can get more on the spool.

braid all the way, i would

braid all the way, i would only change unless your fishing very rocky and reefy areas and start noticing the braid becoming damaged or frayed.

also only go for 80lb if you have a reel that can produce 12kg drag or more and your fishing for really big stuff. in most cases 50lb braid running 8kg drag is plenty to stop lb fish

Mono def for ballooning.

Mono def for ballooning. Braid sinks. I use mono for setline because of sliding. I use 30lb braid for backing/capacity and about 200m 30lb mono topshot.
