Montebello Island Safari Charter

Hi Guys,

A group of us are heading up to jump on board this charter again. A couple of spots have opened up on our trip for various reasons.

See details of this awesome charter here:

http://www.montebello.com.au/

The special price for one of these spots is $2500 (usually $3000, so no further discounts apply). The dates are Sunday 28th June 2015 (leave from Exmouth) through until Saturday 4th July 2015.

You should come home with a box of quality fillets as well which makes this an absolute bargain.

I have done this charter before and it really is fantastic.

I know it's short notice but PM me if you are interested.

Cheers,

Max

Browndog, what type of

Browndog, what type of fishing you do?

We are considering doing the same trip with them next year

We are wanting to do bottom fishing (Mainly jigs) for Rankin, trout, reds.

Shallow water plastics for spangles, trout, queenies and whatever else will take them.

Stick baits in shallow around the islands chasing the above, maybe some tuna.

What did you make of the accom? Do they have strict restrictions on bringing glass bottled beer on the trip?

We will probably be a group of 8-9 lads.

Thanks mate
Bodie

Just do it

Hi Bodie, we did a bit of everything. I tried jigs & soft plastics successfully for Rankins & Coral trout, both got smashed instantly in around 40m. In saying this, the bait got hit pretty much the same, but was a lot cheaper to replace if you got sharked lol. Never managed a queenie this trip. All of my reds came on bait, spanglies was a mixture of bait & jigs, but like I said, I mainly fished baits.

Had an absolute blast around the islands in tinnies, trolling Laser Pro's for macks (got a hooter spanish, in a tinny, on my mates little flick rod with 30lb, was great fun, towed the boat around for a bit). Mainly shark mackies, but others around. Best fun ever.

Also trolled off the big boat for billfish, got my first ever sail, what a hoot! We also raised a Marlin that took the hook but spat it straight away, and another sail. Was great to see them come up and check out the teaser, then smash the skirt. Earlier that day we trolled for a heap of macks & tuna, triple hookups were pretty much normal. I won't forget that day anytime soon.

Tried stick baits and poppers from the tinnies without success, after losing a few laser pros we decided to many toothy things and stuck to wire traces, the crew did say there were mangrove jacks along the rock walls that would take a stickbait, but we never managed one. They also said there were GT's around, but they had been really hard to get them on the bite. Tunas and macks busting bait schools everywhere 24/7, launching 10 feet in the air. Sensational!

I drank glass stubbies for the whole trip without an issue (website says no glass on board the fishing boat, only allowed on the houseboat), but there were only six customers on our trip, so they may have been a bit more relaxed. 14 people would be a bit crazy I reckon. Accomodation was fine, as we all ended up with our own rooms. Essentially you are only in the room to sleep, the rest of the time you are fishing or eating or boating so not really a drama. The two rooms that slept four (two bunks) would be a bit interesting if you didn't know the other guys

Food was sensational, and the crew were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, if you wanted to fish a certain way for a certain species, they would do the best to make sure you could succeed. Bagged out lunchtime second day, and I got the feeling this was pretty much normal.

I'll post a report in a few days, along with a bunch of photos. PM me if you need any more info, but I reckon just do it. Never seen anything like that place, and the boys will definitely show you a good time.

Cheers,

BD.
