Can anyone tell what the build up on the leg of my bf50 suzi is, Motor oil looks good and hasnt droped but worried it might be gearbox leaking. Looks worse in the pics than in real life.

cheers.

Seen it on nearly every motor I’ve ever seen. Never been concerned. Always just assumed it’s heated salt residue. Or even calcium from washing the motor faring left to dry in sun.

Thanks guys, after looking at the patern its way to symetrical for oil, identical on both sides. I think this might be where the exhaust heats the cover the most leaving salt and calcium from the water.

Cheers

Must be a Zuke thing - I've had it on mine and most of the other motors I've looked at have similar. I solved mine with a can of Suzuki spray paint - looks brand new now

I have similar on my Hondas.  It has been discussed on here before and someone commented that vinegar removed the marks.  I tried that without success.
