mounting a minn kota on a tinny

recently aquired a bow mounted minn kota second hand for my 3.8n savage snipe. I got the quick release bracket with it. The bloke i bought it off said you have to re-enforce the bow. He took his tinny to a boat yard and they did it for a couple of hundred bucks. It looks simple to do(4 bolts) Just wondering how i re-enforce the bow... i have a mate who welds ally really well. Has anyone out there done it and do you have any pics of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys

You could try
You could try put a plate under the bow then bolt through the bracket . When i put rod holders on a boat i cut a plate of aluminium the same shape as the the rod holder , then drill the bolt (screw) holes through both and sandwich the hull with the bracket and plate.
The plate under the bow will displace he load of the Kota mount and should give a solid point to bolt to without the need to do any welding.
