Hey everyone im looking at making a rod and found this really good site-Mudhole.com-just wondering if anybody has bought any rod kits off this site and if they are a waste of time or a really good buy, anything good or bad will be appreciated as this is my first rod i am building and i dont want to stuff it up

great value
Hey CodSquad... I've purchased stuff from mudhole few years ago when I got into rod building and built myself a Gloomis SR842-2 IMX. Think the rod retailed for $600+ but I managed to build it for about $300+.
Not sure about their rod kits but if you're interested in good quality gear you can save urself a buck by building it yourself, its not hard to pick out all the components from their site. For a first rod build its probably a good idea to start with something simple (I rebuilt an old glass rod of mine where the guides were startgin to fall apart). You probably can't go wrong with somethign cheap like that to start off with.
Here fishy fishy....

I got told that the postage
I got told that the postage on rods from mudhole is about $100!
I think it's a good idea, I personally am looking at building a rod, getting the blank from Motackle.com (based in Australia)
and all the other components from mudhole as i don't want to pay the postage. apparently it's just the rod that costs a lot to post.
maybe pm Bunny, he's built a few rods and can point you in the right direction

Good feedback
Hey CodSquad
Had a mate buy a rod lathe from them and had nothing but praise for there service and product for the price paid. Not sure on the rod kits but as far as dealing with them was all good
